Dave Nelson, associate professor of history and coordinator of international education at Bainbridge State College, updated the Bainbridge Lions Club Wednesday on the college’s international education programs.
“In 2015 we plan to visit Costa Rica, which has a University of Georgia campus,” he said. “For four weeks our students will study the Costa Rican’s culture and life style. It can be a life changing experience.”
“From February 28 to March 8, 2014, students had an opportunity to visit Belize and gain credit in biology, environmental science and anthropology. At the college we offer short affordable faculty led study programs abroad each year. Some of the students who take part in them have never been very far away from home before. Students also get a chance to sample new foods from different countries.”
Professor Nelson said that International Education Week at the college would be Monday, Nov. 11, through Friday, Nov. 15. He said during the week, students would have an opportunity to study the cultures and special events of different countries.
“In conjunction with Troy University our students will be able to hear Robert Davis, a Fullbight Scholar who will be speaking on life and times in the Phillipines,” Nelson said. “It will be very educational.”
