Bearcats soccer take down Cook Co., region record improves to 3-0

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats soccer team posted a 2-1 Region 1-AAAA victory over the Cook County High School Hornets Friday, March 6, in Adel.
The Bearcats took a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute when of the first half when junior midfielder Jesus Contreras intercepted a Hornets goal kick and sent a pass to sophomore forward Leroy Rivera who kicked in a goal to the right post.
The Hornets pulled even 1-1 in the in the 44th minute of the second half when one of their forwards headed the ball into the goal.
The Bearcats winning goal came in the 58th minute when Contreras lofted a free kick to senior Alex Ward who headed the ball into the back of the net.
The win over the Hornets improves the Bearcats Region 1-AAAA record to 3-0. They are 5-3 overall.
The Bearcats returned to action Friday when they hosted the Crisp County High School Cougars in a Region 1-AAAA game at Centennial Field. They will host the Albany High School Indians in a Region 1-AAAA game Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. and travel to Americus Friday for a 5:30 p.m. Region 1-AAAA game with the Americus-Sumter County High School Panthers.
