Sue Cagle Mathis, 87, of Bainbridge, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015 at Memorial Manor.
The graveside funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at Attapulgus Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Wayne McDonald officiating. Sue was born April 13, 1927 in Sylvester, Ga., the daughter of Columbus Lafayette Cagle and Mary Catherine Sams Cagle. After graduating high school, Mrs. Mathis attended Norman Park Business College. She was a secretary for the Human Resource Department of Englehard Corp. for many years, where she enjoyed editing the Atta Glance Magazine. Mrs. Mathis was a member of Attapulgus Baptist Church and the Attapulgus Community Club. She sat on the Dogwood Pageant Committee and volunteered for 13 years in the Memorial Hospital & Manor Auxiliary.
Survivors include her son, B. J. Mathis, Jr. and his wife, Heather, of Attapulgus; her daughter, Barbara M. Snipes and her husband, Robert, of Bainbridge; a sister, Hazel Cagle Reese of Albany, Ga. ; her grandchildren, Leslie S. Barber and her husband, Jeffery, Robert T. Snipes, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, Katie M. Harrell, Cody A. Mathis and his wife, Erin, Brittany Easom, and Grant Easom; her great-grandchildren, Taylor J. Barber, Jake Barber, Andrew Snipes, Anna Catherine Snipes, and Kenley Harrell.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mathis was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, B. J. Mathis.
