Coach Erwin Harrell’s Grace Christian Academy Lady Cougars basketball team defeated the LaGrange Academy Lady Warriors 60-38 Friday in LaGrange to advance to the Final 4 of the Georgia Independent School’s Association State Class AA Tournament.
LaGrange Academy was the number one seed from Region 1AA and Grace was the number three seed from Region 3AA. The win puts the Lady Cougars in the Final Four of the State Class AA Tournament.
The Lady Cougars will play Valdosta’s Georgia Christian School Lady Generals, the number two seed from Region 3 AA Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at Mercer University in Macon. The winner will play the winner of the game between Monsignor Donovan Catholic High School of Athens and Citizens Christian Academy of Douglas at Mercer University for the State Championship on Saturday, March 7.
Leading the Lady Cougars Friday against Lagrange Academy were Perra Harrell with 19 points and 14 rebounds, Lindsey Duke with 18 points, Kelsey Harrell with 10 points, Hannah Wynn six points and five rebounds, Shellby Woodrum with five points and Kaitlyn Holcombe with two points.
Coach Harrell said his team was in control of the fame with the Lady Warriors from start to finish.
“We executed our game plan perfectly,” he said. “LaGrange was a sold team, they only lost five games all season. Our ladies just seemed to want it more. Now we have just got to take that hunger into the Final Four.”
