Bainbridge gymnastics team shines at weekend meets

The Bainbridge gymnastics team traveled to Atlanta and Kingland, Georgia, last weekend to compete in two meets.
Friday in Atlanta, Emily Perkins placed first on vault (9.4), fifth on beam (8.8) and third on bars (9.2), finishing second All-Around (35.6).
The other top finisher was Haylie Wilkinson, who placed fifth on the floor (8.7).
Schools at the meet included Lassiter, Buford, Northview, Roswell and Pope.
At Saturday’s meet in Kingland, Bainbridge competed against Jones County and Camden County. The Bainbridge Middle School team competed against Camden County as well.
Mirroring her performance at the Friday meet, Perkins placed first on vault (9.6). She also achieved first place on beam (9.7), first on floor (9.8), second on bars (9.2) and first All-Around (38.2).
Wilkinson placed third on vault (8.6) and third on beam (9.1). McKenzie Findley placed second on beam (9.2). She and Wilkinson tied for third All-Around (34.3).
For BMS, Caroline Middleton placed first on vault (8.5), first on beam (9.1), first on bars (8.1), third on floor (8.2) and first All-Around (33.9).
Kennedy Jester placed third on vault (8.3) and Emily Chambers placed third on beam (8.0).
“It is important for these girls to see their competition before we get to the state qualifying meet,” coach Lea Hawkins said. “We took the Georgia Gymnastics Tour. We saw the best of the best and we held our own. This is going to be an exciting season for Bainbridge gymnastics.”
