TCC Yellow Jackets overrun BMS Bearcats after early game rally

The Bainbridge Middle School Bearcats baseball team dropped a 12-1 decision to the Thomas County Central Middle School Yellow Jackets Thursday, Feb. 19, on the road.
The Bearcats grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Sam Boutwell led off the inning with a double and came around to score when Bruce Gadson followed with an RBI single.
The Yellow Jackets came up with four runs in the bottom of the first to take a 4-1 lead. The Bearcats threatened in the top of the second but left two runners stranded.
Jaheim Jenkins got aboard on an error with two away and moved around to third when Boutwell singled.
The Yellow Jackets added four more runs in the bottom of the second inning to increase their advantage to 8-1.
They scored their final four runs in the bottom of the sixth.
The Bearcats final threat came in the top of the fifth. A two-out single by Austin Phillips ignited the threat. He moved up to second when Myles Holloway was safe on a fielder’s choice.
After Bradlee Ponder walked to load the bases, Ellis Faircloth struck out to retire the side.
The Bearcats returned to action Tuesday when they hosted the Whigham Middle School Indians.
