Coach Rick Lewis’ Bainbridge Middle School soccer teams secured two stunning wins against Thomas County Central on Monday night at Centennial Field.
His Ladycats started the rout beating Central 1-0. Mid-fielder Jamya Brinson muscled her way down the center of the field and launched a devastating kick into the back of the net. Central tried but failed to respond with a goal of their own due in no small part to the solid defense put on by Taylor Emmons, Sandy Baker, and Tamiya Mosley.
The boys team played after, defeating Central 2-1. After battling each other to a scoreless tie in the first half, Caleb Harris took the first goal early in the second half with an assist from mid-fielder Joe Emmons.
Triston Brannon secured the Bearcats’ second goal with a solid kick off a rebound in the middle of a crowded field in front of Central’s goal.
Thomasville’s only goal came from a penalty kick late in the game. Special mention must be made of Triston Love, Alex Sodon and Alfredo Rodrigues’ relentless defense of the Bearcats redzone.
The Bearcats and Ladycats play next at home against Thomasville on Wednesday, March 4 at Centennial Field. The games start at 4:30 p.m.
