Jerome Barber, 60, of Climax, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015.

The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roy Matthews and Rev. Marty Brock officiating and will conclude in the chapel. Interment followed at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Chris Gardner, Charles Gardner, Lanier Lane, Bobby Barber, Terril Scott and Jeff Barber serving as active pallbearers.

Mr. Barber was born November 10, 1954 in Bainbridge. He was a graduate of Bainbridge High School, Class of 1972 and was a truck driver for Dollar Farm Products for 27 years.

Jerome was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and had recently been attending New Fountainhead Baptist Church. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR, and spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Leatha Phillips Barber of Climax; his children, Chris Barber and his dear friend, Connie Phillips, of Brinson, Nicholas Weathersby and his wife, Jessica, of Bainbridge, and Hannah Waldrop and her husband, Matthew, of Villa Rica, Ga.; his father, Therman Barber of Brinson; his brother, Larry Barber and his wife, Kim, of Brinson; his grandchildren, Mason Gardner, Ivy Weathersby, and Case Waldrop; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Murl Josey Barber.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
