Lady Cats suffer loss in last game of region tourney, start State games

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats dropped a 53-32 decision to Albany’s Westover High School Lady Patriots last Friday at the Albany High School Gymnasium, dropping them to fourth in the Region 1-AAAA Tournament.
Leading scorer for the Lady Cats was Nadia Marshall with 11 points.
Tiana Campbell had 13 points to lead the Lady Patriots.
Also in double figures for the Lady Patriots were Bryshea Jackson with 12 points and Kayla Harrell with 10.
In the Region 1-AAAA Tournament Championship game last Friday night at the Albany High School Gymnasium, the Americus-Sumter County High School Lady Panthers downed the Monroe High School Lady Tornadoes 63-51.
The champion Lady Panthers, second place Lady Tornadoes, third place Lady Patriots and fourth place Lady Cats will all advance to this week’s State Class AAAA Tournament.
Coach Cochran said his team started slow against Westover and had a good late run but just was not able to pull out the victory.
“We played hard and hustled and made a late run but just fell a little short,” he said.
The Lady Cats will took on Veterans High School Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Kathleen, Georgia, near Warner Robins. Veterans, the first place team from Region 2-AAAA, is 26-1. The Lady Cats are 21-7.
