Mrs. Essie Shepard, 96, of Colquitt, died Saturday, February 14, 2015, at Miller County Hospital. Funeral services were Sunday, February 15, 2015, at 3 p.m. at Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tony Mock officiating. Interment followed at Colquitt City Cemetery with Donald Whitaker, Ricky Allen, Tim Allen, Danny Allen, Russ Allen, and Richard Allen serving as active pallbearers. Visitation was Sunday, February 15, 2015, from 2-3 p.m. at Colquitt Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shepard was a seamstress and a member of Pilgrim Rest Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Josephine Whitaker Allen of Colquitt; one daughter-in-law, Barbara Whitaker of Albany, Ga.; nine grandchildren, Tommy Allen of Colquitt, Ricky (Sherry) Allen of Colquitt, Tim (Sandra) Allen of Colquitt, Danny (Sheila) Allen of Colquitt, Russ Allen of Colquitt, Donald (Teresa) Whitaker of Doerun, Ga., Tara (Daryl) Morgan of Leesburg, Ga., Angel (Gregg) Moore of Lexington, S.C. and Joshua Whitaker of Albany; 13 great-grandchildren; and 13 great great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Shepard was preceded in death by her husband, Clark Shepard and one son, Donald Whitaker.
Colquitt Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
