Despite their loss, the Bearcat basketball team played their hearts out this season

The Bainbridge High School Bearcats just completed a basketball season in which they fell one win short of making it to the State Class AAAA Tournament.
Starters Tyree Crump, Myles Thomas, Trevon Shaw, Devontae Jones and Malik Middleton led the Bearcats this season.
When Crump was suspended for four games following an on court incident against the Americus-Sumter County High School Lady Panthers, Isaiah Harris was called up from the junior varsity to team with Thomas, Shaw, Jones and Middleton in the starting lineup. He contributed two double-figure scoring efforts.
Following an outstanding coaching career at Chipley Florida High School before coming to Bainbridge, McCullough was inducted into the Florida Circle of Champions Basketball Hall of Fame.
Coach McCullough and Lady Cats coach Kelvin Cochran, who assists coach McCullough with the Bearcats, are as good of role models for the young athletes they lead that you will find anywhere.
I have also had the pleasure of covering such outstanding Bearcats coaches as the late Charles Bess, Larry Slaughter Bill Henry and Jeff Page and former Lady coaches Bobby Trawick, the late Ken Byrd, Decatur County Sports Hall of Famer LeAnn Harrell Inlow and Babs Coyle.
Former Post-Searchlight publisher Sam Griffin and his wonderful family and current Post-Searchlight publisher Jeff Findley and all the wonderful people at Boone Newspapers have allowed me to have a job I love for 44 years.
