Funeral Services for Jane Carole Bell Cox, 85, of Whigham will be at  2 p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015, at Whigham United Methodist Church with Rev. Marsha Emery and Rev. Charles Whatley officiating.  Services will conclude at the church.  Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Whigham. Active pallbearers will be:  Jeffrey F. Cox, Jr., Michael J. Cox, Robert Cox, Jr., Austin Ayala, Cage Cox, and Jake Cassels.  Honorary pallbearers will be: Clint Brown, Martin Davalos, and Paul Hinchey.

Mrs. Cox passed away at Pinewood Nursing Center on Wednesday, February 4, 2015.

Mrs. Cox was born on April 12, 1929, in Whigham, to the late Fred and Myrtis Dollar Bell.  She married James M. Cox, Sr., who preceded her in death on August 25, 1996.  She was a bookkeeper with Stone’s in Cairo, Ga. She was a devoted member of Whigham United Methodist Church. Mrs. Jane was a member of the Wayside Community Club, the Cherokee Garden Club, and was once honored with the Grady County Community Service Award.

Survivors include: sons, James M. Cox, Jr. (Helen) of Climax, Jeffrey F. “Jet” Cox (Demetrius) of Whigham; daughter-in-law, Belinda Cox of Whigham; grandchildren, Krista Cox Hinchey (Paul) of Nashville, Tenn., Michael J. Cox (Christina) of Albany, Ga., Decia Cox of Whigham, Jeffrey F. Cox, Jr. (Misty) of Whigham, Dena Cox Ayala (Austin) of Richmond Hill, Ga., Clint Brown (Erica) of Alexandria, Va., Jodi Cox Davalos (Martin) of Augusta, Ga., Robert Joseph Cox, Jr. of Valdosta, Ga.; great-grandchildren, Adelaine Hinchey of Nashville, Tenn., Jake and Callie Cassels of Whigham, Cage, Jaxon and Jane Ann Cox of Whigham, Jet and Jack Ayala of Richmond Hill, Ga.;  brother, John P. “Buster” Bell (Evelyn) of Cairo; brother-in-law, Dale Brown of Michigan; a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a son, Robert Joseph “Joey” Cox, Sr.; sister, Doris Brown; step-mother, Thelma Bell.

The family will receive friends the hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
