GCA Cougars, Lady Cougars grab homecoming victories

The Grace Christian Academy Cougars and Lady Cougars basketball team posted homecoming victories over the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors and Lady Warriors Tuesday at Perry Memorial Gymnasium.
The Cougars, who are 5-0 in the Georgia Independent Schools Association’s Region 3-AA, won 66-44, were led by Jack McRae with 29 points, 12 rebounds, two blocked shots, four assists and five steals.
Noah Thomas added 16 points and had six steals. Sam McRae had four rebounds, and two steals.
Cougars coach Mallory McRae was pleased with his team’s defensive effort against the Warriors.
“I felt we came out and played well defensively tonight,” he said. “We were able to really dominate the boards. I was happy to see the guys get a win for homecoming.”
Coach Erwin Harrell’s Lady Cougars, who won 52-44, were led by Perra Harrell with 19 points. Also hitting in double figures was Shellby Woodrum with 12 points. Harrell had 12 rebounds and five assists and Woodrum had three steals and three assists.
The Cougars and Lady Cougars returned to action Tuesday when they hosted Georgia Christian Academy. They will host Highland Christian Academy Friday.
