The Bainbridge Marching Band has been selected to participate in Texas at the San Antonio Fiesta Flambeau Parade.
The parade began in 1948 and has grown to become the largest night time parade in the United States. The Bainbridge Band is the only band selected in the State of Georgia to participate in this prestigious parade. The parade is on Saturday, April 25, 2015.
The Bainbridge High School Band students have been working hard with various fundraisers to earn their way to this prestigious parade. They need your help to insure the band, once again, represents the school, city and county in its proven manner of making everyone proud.
The BHS Band has brought much pride and notoriety to Decatur County and the State of Georgia. The lessons students have learned on trips such as these goes far beyond the classroom. Students gain first hand experience of historical sites, organizational skills, economy skills, along with the fact of experiencing how people live in different areas of our country. Of course performing for thousands of people is an experience all by itself. Many of these skills and experiences can be read about in a book but that never portrays the actual hands on which these students have already experienced to some degree, in preparing for the performance and paying their own way.
With April right around the corner, the BHS Marching Band members are in their final push to raise funds. One of the final fundraisers for band students is currently underway. The students have begun selling tickets for smoked chicken plates. These tickets are available from any marching band member. A great deal for you and each plate sold gets our students a little closer to this opportunity of a life time. Plates cooked by Boyd’s BBQ and will include half a chicken, potato salad, baked beans, bread and desert.
Pick up date for plates is February 12th in front of the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum from 4:00 until 6:30.
Memories and skills will be developed which will enable our future adults to grow into adult hood with a much better understanding of the responsibilities which lie ahead of each one of them. Remember your help is needed to continue the fine tradition our students, past and present, have established here in Decatur County and Nation Wide.
