Patra Parris, Alexandria Carter and Alexis Russ combined for 43 points Tuesday in Donalsonville to lead the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats to a 70-30 victory over the Seminole County High School Lady Indians.
Parris led the way with 18 points, Carter put in 15 and Russ added 10. Nadia Marshall scored eight, Tameria Levens scored five and Asia Gordon scored four.
The Lady Cats were in command all the way. They led 19-4 at the end of the first quarter, 36-11 at half time and 53-24 after three quarters. They then outscored the Lady Indians 17-6 in the fourth quarter to put the game away.
Tuesday was the final regular season non-Region 1-AAAA game for the Lady Cats. They hosted the Albany High School Lady Indians in a Region 1-AAAA game Friday and will host the Cook County High School Trojans in a Region 1-AAAA game tonight in a game that was originally scheduled for Adel.
The Lady Cats jumped out front 19-4 at the end of the first quarter. They outscored the Lady Indians 17-7 in the second quarter to take a 36-11 half time lead. A 17-13 third quarter scoring edge gave the Lady Cats a 53-24 lead. They then outscored the Lady Indians 17-6 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
Lady Cats coach Kelvin Cochran said he could not have been more pleased with his team’s defensive performance against the Lady Indians.
“I thought we played excellent defense against Seminole County,” Cochran said. “We got after them and made it difficult for them to get good looks at the basket. We also played well on the offensive end. We handled the ball well and shot well from the outside and in close.”
Cochran said now the Lady Cats total focus will be on the remainder of their Region 1-AAAA schedule. Albany’s Monroe High School Lady Tornadoes, who Bainbridge hosts Saturday, Jan. 24, the Westover High School Lady Patriots, who they play Tuesday, Jan. 27 in Albany, and the Americus-Sumter County High School Lady Panthers, who they host Friday, Feb. 6, will all be strong competition.
