Michael Jones III, born Thursday, Jan. 1 at 11:37 a.m., was declared the first baby born at Memorial Hospital in 2015. He is the son of Toi Lee and Michael Jones Jr.
He is the first-born child to Toi Lee, age 22, and was delivered by Dr. Crow of Magnolia Women’s Center. The baby weighed in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces and was 19-3/4 inches long.
Having the New Year’s Baby seems to run in Toi’s family, as her mother, Diane Byrd, said Toi’s sister also produced the New Years Baby in 1990.
Both baby and mother looked as if they were doing fine on Friday, and anticipating going home on Saturday.
Toi said she wants for her son to be a success in life, and not have it hard. By the same token, she doesn’t want it to be too easy, but just enough for him to take care of himself in a peaceful, humble world. “As long as he is happy and accomplishes himself in school, I’ll be happy” she concluded.
