The Bainbridge Middle School seventh grade Lady Cats and Bearcats basketball teams divided a pair of games with the Washington Middle School Lady Tigers and Tigers Friday at the Decatur County Memorial Coliseum.
The Lady Cats lost 26-14 and the Bearcats won by forfeit after two technical fouls were called against Washington.
Dominque Linzy led the Lady Cats in scoring with four points. India Parris and Mya Gaines added two apiece.
Lady Cats coach Lisa Taylor said she thought her team played hard but just had difficulty trying to get anything going offensively.
“We cut the lead to five or six points a few times, but were just unable to get over the hump offensively,” Taylor said. “Several of our shots just rimmed out.”
The girls’ game was interrupted for some time when one of the fans suddenly became ill and an ambulance was called.
“The health of the ill fan was everyone’s number one priority as it should have been but the delay kind of took the momentum away from us,” Taylor said. “We were just not able to get much going after that.”
The seventh grade Lady Cats and Bearcats played their final regular season games Tuesday when they traveled to Thomas County to take on the Thomas County Central Middle School seventh grade Lady Yellow Jackets and Yellow Jackets.
