The Decatur County Board of Commissioners accepted a letter Tuesday from Decatur County Attorney Brown Moseley stating his intention to withdraw his name from appointment effective Dec. 31.
“Brown will stay with us through the transition period,” Decatur County Chairman Frank Loeffler said. “I think that’s a good thing. We have a lot of legal issues going on and we’re going need him. He will have to bring whomever the new commission hires up to speed.”
Moseley’s letter, dated Dec. 9, states that he has given careful consideration to the situation and has chosen to withdrawn his name from consideration for appointment for a number of reasons.
“I regret that Decatur County is presently involved in a number of challenges that must be dealt with in the months ahead,” Moseley’s letter reads. “These political and legal issues will demand the full attention of the board and it’s legal counsel.”
