Bainbridge High School Bearcats senior number one singles player Hema Hasona and Bainbridge High School Lady Cats senior, first team All-Region 1-AAAA softball shortstop Maegan Harrison are the Bainbridge High male and female Wendy’s High School Heisman Award winners.
Hasona recently signed a tennis scholarship with the Florida A&M University Rattlers.
Last season, with Hasona leading the way, the Bearcats won the Region 1-AAAAA tennis championship. He defeated his Columbus Hardaway High School number one singles opponent 6-0, 6-0 in the Region 1-AAAAA Tournament at the Bill Reynolds Tennis Center Sports Park.
In earning the offensive player of the year award, Harrison achieved numerous high offensive goals. She batted .389 with 20 runs scored, 21 hits, 11 singles, five doubles and five triples.
Thomas, who coaches both honorees, says they are both extremely deserving of their honors.
“Hema and Maegan are not only outstanding athletes, they are also outstanding students and role models for other athletes and students,” Thomas said “Both are also scholar athletes and academics are a major criteria for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Awards. They also both have great character which is another major criteria for the awards.”
At the recent Lady Cats softball awards banquet, Harrison won the scholar athlete award for having a 98.2 grade point average, the highest on the team.
