They defeated the Pelham Middle School eighth grade Lady Hornets 25-19 Monday and defeated Cairo’s Washington Middle School eighth grade Lady Tigers 35-9 Thursday.
Monday against Pelham the Lady Cats were led by forward Mycha Harris with nine points,. Guards Zycheria Russ and Keyona Crankfield added four apiece, forwards Takemia Campbell and Mattie Register scored three each and guard Kali Taylor scored two.
Leading the way for the Lady Cats Thursday against Pelham were Russ with nine points, Register with seven points, Harris with six points and Makayka Hamilton with five points.
Coach Pierce said she thought her team played hard and well in both games this week.
“We ran our offense well and played strong defense against Pelham and Washington,” she said. “The girls are very young and they are beginning to show improvement in practice and games.”
The eighth grade lady Cats will see their first road action Tuesday when they travel to Thomas County to take on the Thomas County Middle School eighth grade Yellow Jackets.
“Thomas County Central always plays well and we are looking forward to taking them on,” coach Pierce said. “We will be up for the challenge.”
