The Bill Reynolds Tennis Complex will be bustling this weekend when 388 players show up to the United States Tennis Associations Southern Combo Doubles State Championship.
The tournament will kick off Friday morning and last until the final rounds on Sunday.
Seven teams from the Bainbridge Tennis Association will be competing in the various divisions against some of the best adult players across Georgia.
“We’re certainly excited the weather is nice and that it will be good for Bainbridge to be able to host such an event,” Bainbridge tennis director Timothy Thompson said.
The action won’t be happening exclusive at the Bill Reynolds complex, though. Tournament play will be stretched out across all courts in the City of Bainbridge, according to Thompson.
One of Thompson’s biggest focuses for the weekend is showing guests and those new to Bainbridge a generous amount of hospitality.
“Part of that hospitality is having a captains party at Southwind Plantation Thursday night and then a big players party at the Bainbridge Country Club Friday night,” he said. “They can also take part in the Downtown Street Dance.”
Thompson said a combination of the hospitality and seeing the great sponsors will hopefully make visitors want to return to Bainbridge to fish, hunt or enjoy the Flint River.
