Saturday around noon Bainbridge Public Safety officers pursued two men via foot chase down portions of Powell and Water Streets in relation to a disturbance.
BPS officer Ken Williams made contact with Jermaine Lashawn Pugh, 30, of 1504 Hall Street in Bainbridge, in the backyard of a residence on Water Street. Pugh had blood stains on his clothing and was holding an unknown amount of cash in small bills that was also soaked in blood, according to the incident report.
Pugh allegedly hit another man in the head with an object during a fight over a card game at a Powell Street residence Saturday, said BPS Investigator Chris Jordan.
According to the incident report, Pugh told officers that he ran because the man he was drinking and playing cards with pulled out a handgun, and Pugh was scared the other man would shoot him.
After being searched, a clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana was found on Pugh’s person.
Pugh was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, marijuana – possession less than one oz., obstruction of officers and gambling.
The incident is still under investigation.
