Coach Yvette Greene’s Bainbridge High School Bearcats and Lady Cats cross-country teams participated in the Florida State University Invitational Meet Saturday at Tallahassee’s Apalachee State Park.
There were 120 teams from Alabama, Georgia and Florida competing.
Coach Greene felt her Bearcats and Lady Cats ran well. The top five Bearcats runners were Brenden Greene, Perry Waddell, Wright Cook, Bennett Enfinger and David Brock.
The top five Lady Cats runners were Uriyah Davis, Camry Fillingame, Aida Diaz, Madison Wiggins and Caitlin Sheppard.
Bearcats and Lady Cats community coach Greg Waddell said Saturday’s Tallahassee run provided a great occasion for the athletes to run against the best runners in Florida.
“Any time you have the opportunity to face the best is welcomed,” Waddell said. “Increased competition makes you stronger. The teams performed well and continue to work daily as the Region 1AAAA Meet approaches.”
The Bearcats and Lady Cats next challenge will be to finish strong at this Saturday’s Americus-Sumter High School Invitational Meet in preparation for the Thursday, Oct. 30, Region 1-AAAA meet, which coach Greene’s Bearcats and Lady Cats will host. They girls run will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the boys run will get underway at 5:30 p.m.
