Dive team searches Flint for murder weapon

Wednesday, Oct. 8 Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assisted the Crisp County Sheriff and Lowndes County Sheriff’s Offices with an ongoing murder investigation.
“There is an investigation of a murder that has led to Decatur County,” Sheriff Wiley Griffin said. “The Crisp County Sheriff’s Office requested the Lowndes County Sheriff’s dive team come to Decatur County and search certain parts of the Flint River in relation to a Crisp County murder.”
On Sept. 12, the body of 20-year-old Jasperin Armstrong was found alongside a rural road in Crisp County. Investigators have since arrested two Bainbridge residents and one Cordele resident in relation to the murder.
On Sept. 16, warrants were secured for Rocquel Quinton Chavers, 31, of 1111 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, Bainbridge. Chavers was apprehended with the assistance of Bainbridge Public Safety Department and Decatur County Sheriff’s Office. Chavers was charged with Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
On Sept. 17, Rontavious Domonic Towns, 21, of 103 Lake Park Drive, Cordele was questioned. Towns faces charges of Murder, Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.
On Wednesday, Oct. 1, Georgia Bureau of Investigations agents and Crisp County Sheriff’s Investigators, assisted by Bainbridge Public Safety Department officers and Decatur County Sheriff’s deputies, arrested Andreika Lynette Harper, 26, of 705 N. Miller Avenue, Bainbridge, for the charges of Murder, Felony Murder and Aggravated Assault.
“We’re asking the public if they have any information on that murder or any other murder in Crisp County to please contact Lieutenant Redell Walton at 229-400-8014,” Griffin said.
Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock previously stated that investigators believe the murder to be gang-related.
