Frances Rooks Guarro, 92, of Bainbridge, passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Memorial Hospital.

The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 2, 2014 at Faceville Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Johns officiating. Interment followed at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery at 4 p.m.

The family received friends from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, prior to the funeral service at Faceville Baptist Church. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Mrs. Guarro was born Sept. 17, 1922 in Americus, Ga., the daughter of Wisdom R. Rooks and Mary Lou Crook Rooks. She was a graduate of Americus High School and received a nursing degree in Dayton, Ohio. She retired after more than 40 years of service as a nurse at Phoebe Putney Hospital, Albany, Ga.. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Albany, and attended Faceville Baptist Church while in Bainbridge. She was a member of the Golden Years Retirement Club.

Survivors include her daughter, Connie Guarro Gainous of Bainbridge; her brother, W. R. Rooks, Jr. and his wife, Patsy, of Americus; her sister, Alma Jossey of Lake Blackshear, Ga.; her grandchildren, Kim Gainous Jeter, Tim Gainous, and Jennifer Gainous; her great-grandchildren, Victoria Jeter Sands, Nic Jeter, Jake Jeter, Ellie Jeter, Gabby Gainous, and Jack Gainous; and her great-great-grandchild, Carter Wyatt Sands; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Guarro was preceded in death by a precious son-in-law, Kenneth M. Gainous; three brothers, William Rooks, Walker Rooks, and Cecil Rooks; and three sisters, Blanche Karras, Monette Fulford, and Hazel McKoon. Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
