Coach Amy Thomas’s Bainbridge High School Lady Cats softball team divided a pair of Monday and Tuesday games.
They dropped a 6-5 decision to the Lee County High School Lady Trojans Monday in Leesburg and edged the Cairo High School Syrupmaids 2-1 Tuesday on senior night at the Lady Cats Diamond in their final home game of the season.
Lady Cat Brooke Bates was hot at the plate Monday, banging out singles in the third, fifth and seventh innings and scoring two runs.
The Lady Trojans pitcher Danielle Davis picked up the victory Monday. She struck out seven, walked just one and allowed eight hits in her eight innings of work.
Ashley Morris and Sydney Mclain each had two hits and drove in two runs for the Lady Trojans.
The Lady Cats grabbed an early 3-0 lead in the top of the third inning Monday against the Lady Trojans. Bates scored on an RBI double by Maegan Harrison and Harrison came home on an RBI single by Morgan Cannon. The Lady Trojans Ashley Morris hit a solo home run for the Lady Trojans in the bottom of the third.
In Tuesday’s 2-1 senior-night victory over the Syrupmaids, Bates was the winning pitcher. She also helped the Lady Cats take the lead in the bottom of the sixth.
She singled, and moved up to second on an RBI single by Cannon.
The Lady Trojans put Monday’s game away with two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning and got the winning run home on two singles.
The Lady Cats are 11-4 overall and 5-1 in Region 1AAAA play. They are second to the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets who have not lost a region game. They will play the Berrien County High School Lady Rebels in a non-region game Monday in Nashville and take on the Westover High School Lady Patriots and the Albany High School Lady Indians in a Region double header Tuesday in Albany.
The Albany game is a makeup of an earlier Lady Cats and Lady Indians rain out in Bainbridge.
