Mr. John Wayne Cox, age 45, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at his home in Bainbridge, Georgia. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014, at Cox Funeral Home Chapel.  Pastor Wanda Estelle Chapman Spoon will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service, beginning at 1 p.m.

John Wayne Cox was born Sept. 14, 1968 in Tallahassee, Florida. He was the son of Johnny Harvey Cox and Mattie Mills Wimberly. John drove fuel trucks. He drove many years for Florida Rock and Sharber Oil Companies.  Most recently, he has been with Proline Trucking Company.

John was married to Peggy J. Rose Cox.  John Wayne Cox was a charming, country boy.  He was a diehard Seminoles fan and loved NASCAR; ever ready to cheer on the “24” car, Jeff Gordon. John never met a stranger. He just loved people.

John Wayne Cox is survived by his wife, Peggy J. Rose Cox of Bainbridge; children, Haley Anne Cox of Bainbridge, Hannah Leigh Cox of Bainbridge, Christopher John Cox of Palm Coast, Florida, Johnathan Terry Cox of Palm Coast, Alexis Brooke Davis of Vidalia, Georgia, and Dylan Ray Rose of Interlachen, Florida; sisters, Margie Hurley and husband, John, Samantha Brackin and husband, Jim, Lynward Cox and Ellen, Leon Bettis and Bobby Bettis and wife, Rachel, all of Bainbridge; step-father, William Wimberly of Bainbridge; 3 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and faithful companions, Fang and Tinker bell.
