Dorothy Boyette

Dorothy “Dot” Cornelia Ward Boyette, age 85, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014. Dot was born in Bainbridge, Georgia and was the oldest daughter of seven children. She graduated from the Atlanta Law School in 1952. She worked in an Atlanta law firm for 38 years. In Atlanta, she was active in the Methodist Church and the Georgia Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
She was married to William “Bill” Rhyne Boyette from Toccoa, Georgia in 1952. After living in Atlanta for 42 years, Dot and Bill returned to Bainbridge to retire in 1987. Dot and Bill were married for 51 years.
In 2009, Dot moved to Signal Mountain, Tennessee to be near her son, daughter-in-law and two grandsons. She attended the Signal Crest United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and loved to cook and knit.
Dot is survived by her two sons, William Boyette and Jimmy Boyette; daughter-in-law, Lisa Boyette; two grandsons, Zach and Sam Boyette; and two sisters, Juanita Allen and Anne Johnson.
Her memorial service was held in the Marr Chapel of Signal Mountain Presbyterian Church, Signal Mountain, Tenn. at 2:30 on Friday, August 22, 2014. A graveside service will be held at North Atlanta Memorial Park in Dunwoody, Ga. on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at noon. The family will receive friends immediately after each service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the AIM Center for Mental Health, 472 West M L King Blvd, Chattanooga, TN 37402.
