Decatur County resident Kenneth Wayne Meredith, 33, was indicted last Tuesday by a Decatur County Grand Jury for sexual conduct with children.
Meredith was indicted on one count of child molestation, one count of criminal attempt to commit a felony and eight counts of sexual exploitation of children.
According to the true bill indictments, Meredith’s child molestation charge stems from an incident between July 6, 2013, and Aug. 4, 2013, where he allegedly committed and immoral and indecent act with a child under 16-years-old.
His offense of criminal attempt to commit a felony also stems from an alleged incident with the same 16-year-old where he attempted sexual conduct during the same time frame.
The eight counts of sexual exploitation of children are for eight sexual photos Meredith allegedly had stored on his phone of a minor under 14.
Georgia Bureau of Investigations Agent Michael Walsingham was present as the persecutor and a witness for the state.
South Georgia Judicial Circuit District Attorney Joe Mulholland said the sentence for sexual exploitation and child molestation alone could be five to 20 years.
Meredith will go to trial January 2015.
