Brooke Bates hurled a shutout and singled in the game’s only run in the top of the seventh inning Tuesday in Donalsonville, leading the Bainbridge High School Lady Cats to a 1-0 softball victory over the Seminole County High School Lady Indians.
Lady Cats coach Amy Thomas praised Bates, who allowed just two hits and struck out eight batters, after the game.
“Brooke and Lady Indians pitcher Hall both turned in strong efforts,” Thomas said. “Hall also went seven innings, struck out four and did not walk a batter.”
The Lady Cats opened their home season Friday when they hosted the Miller County High School Lady Pirates at the Lady Cats Diamond.
They will host the Lee County High School Lady Trojans Monday at the Lady Cats Diamond and travel to Albany Thursday for a Region 1AAAA game against the Albany High School Lady Indians.
