Hazel Betts, director and supervisor of the Decatur/Grady Head Start School in Climax, kicked off the 2014-2015 school year by welcoming all students and staff on the first day of school Monday, Aug. 4.

She said the students, staff and family members were looking forward to making this school year the best yet. She recalled how eager the children were from both Decatur and Grady Counties as they anxiously arrived at school on that first day as they stepped off one of the seven buses that brought them.

Betts said 48 staff members are excited to work with the 242 children teaching them all they possibly can. Between learning activities, choice time, outside play, mealtime, and rest time, the students will never be bored this year.

“We are proud and devoted to serving the students and their families. We aim to provide the best educational experience for each of them in the 2014-2015 school year,” she concluded.

The community is encouraged to visit the school and volunteers are always welcome.
