Amy Powell, daughter of John Powell and Charisse Martin, both of Bainbridge, is engaged to wed Jake Hooks, son of Freddy and Cheryl Hooks of Camilla.
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Bobbie Ferrara of Smithfield, N.C., the late Walton Kenneth Herring of Princeton, N.C. and the late Leon and Evelyn Powell of Smithfield.
Miss Powell is a 2003 graduate of Bainbridge High School and graduated from Bainbridge State College with a degree in nursing. She is employed by the Mitchell County Hospital.
The groom-to-be is the grandson of Jean Faircloth of Camilla, the late Aaron Faircloth of Camilla, Faye Hooks of Pelham and the late James Hooks of Pelham.
He is a 2002 graduate of Pelham High School and attended Bainbridge State College where he majored in business. He is self-employed with JAH Farms.
The wedding is planned for November 1 at 5 p.m. at Gin Creek Plantation, Hartsfield, Ga., where the reception will follow. Invitations will be sent.
