The Bainbridge-Decatur County YMCA Barracuda Swim Team will renew an old rivalry Saturday, July 26, when they host the Marianna, Florida, Swim Team in the War Between the States: Georgia versus Florida Challenge at the YMCA pool.
“During the time of the former popular city of Bainbridge Swim Team program Marianna was one of our biggest rivals,” YMCA aquatics coordinator, Barracuda coach and former city of Bainbridge swim team member Jennifer Clements said. “I guarantee you both teams will be prepared to give their best. It should be a lot of fun for our current YMCA swimmers to go up against Marianna. I look for the meet to be very competitive. Our swimmers have worked very hard and won numerous medals this summer.”
Barracudas head coach Becki Miller said she is also very excited about the match up with Marianna.
“I am sure that all of the events will be very competitive when we take on Marianna,” Miller said. “A home meet will be a good way to end our season.”
Two weeks prior to the Georgia-Florida Shootout, the Barracudas will have competed in the Saturday, July 12, Georgia Recreation and Parks Association District 3 Meet and the Georgia Recreation and Parks Association State Meet Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19. The District Meet and State Meet are both held in Tifton.
