Grace Earle Sweat

Grace Earle Sweat, 88, of Bainbridge, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014 at Hospice Atlanta.

The funeral service was held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Medley officiating. A graveside service was held Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Live Oak Cemetery, Live Oak, Florida.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 323 Pine Ave. Ste. 100, Albany, GA, US, 31701.

Mrs. Sweat was born Aug. 20, 1925 in Live Oak, the daughter of Glenn William Graham and Gladys Hamilton Graham Thompson. She was a graduate of Suwanee County High School Class of 1943 and was a “book mobile” librarian for over twenty years with the Gilbert H. Gragg Library. While in Bainbridge, she was an active member of First Baptist Church, the Red Hat Society, and the Daylily Society. She loved working in her garden and was known for her beautiful tulips.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Elwood Sweat and her great-grandson Graham Alpert Colman.

Survivors include her children, William E. Sweat , Jr. of Bainbridge, and Gregory Earle Sweat and his wife, Sandra, of Conyers, Ga., and Cordelia Sweat Rowell and her husband, Philip, of Alpharetta, Ga.; her sister, Glenda Graham Evans of Valdosta, Ga.; her grandchildren, William Kyle Sweat and his wife, Gidget, Jennifer Leigh Rackley Colman, and her husband, Michael, Renee Austin and her husband, Charles, Jenni Sweat, and Jeffery Graham Sweat; her great-grandchildren, Megan Patterson, Hannah Patterson, Alyson Austin, and Jasmine Kelly.

Ivey Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
