Dan Clark Cooper Sr., 75, former resident of Macclenny, Florida and current resident of Lake Butler, Florida, passed away on June 4, 2014, after an extended illness.

The graveside funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2014, 2 p.m at Greenshade Cemetery in Decatur County Georgia. Reverend Donna Sue Roberts of Faceville Methodist Church will be officiating.

Dan was married to Dorothy Ann Avirett on March 5, 1960; they were married 54 years. Dan worked as a construction superintendent for the commercial industry and as an individual contractor for over 40 years.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling, reading, spending time with family and watching old western movies. He was a charter member of the Baker County Volunteer Fire Department of South Macclenny that was established in 1976.

Dan is survived by his spouse, Dorothy Ann Avirett Cooper; Son, Dan Clark Cooper Jr. (Kathy); daughters Julie Dawn Harden (Mark), Leigh Anne Walls (Rocky); daughter in law, Debra Lynn Cooper; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Anneita Gilbourn and Annette Singer; sister-in-law Laverne Cooper; best friend Tommy Raulerson and other family and friends.

Dan is preceded in death by sons, Thomas Scott Cooper and Richard Mark Cooper; father, David Roy Cooper Sr.; mother, Annie Jewell Duke Cooper; brothers, Maston O. Cooper, William H. Cooper (Joyce), and David Roy Cooper Jr.; brother-in-law Clifford Gilbourn and brother-in-law Stan Singer.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Hospice of Citrus County of the Nature Coast, PO Box 641270, Beverly Hills, Florida 34464 or Faceville Methodist Church c/o Catherine Olivent, 3153 Faceville Highway, Faceville, GA 31717.
