Hurricane season requires preparation this summer

The coming months are sure to bring a large amount of rain and thunderstorms.
This time of year is what is known as hurricane season for this part of the nation. Storms brewing in the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean are often bigger and more severe than those during other times of the year. Due to Decatur County’s location on the map, it is likely to be in the path of such weather.
However, Bainbridge and Decatur County residents should rest assured there are men and women in the area who are well equipped and ready to handle any emergencies.
Bainbridge Public Safety and Decatur County both have a well-prepared team of fire and rescue workers who can handle extreme situations. Even so, practice safety this month and the rest of summer as the weather worsens. Doing so can save lives.
Having an emergency kit ready for quick medical situations and learning the elevation of your property and where the land is flood-prone are just a couple measures to take for protection.
