John Wesley (65) of Bainbridge, and his beloved pet “Cookie” passed away May 12th in a car accident.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Cunningham Wesley; his daughter and son-in-law Alton & Jennifer Brock of Bainbridge; Step-daughter and son-in-law Cela and Shawn Porter of Atlanta; Son Micheal & Jill Wesley of Roanoke, Va,; Stepson Kenny and Aurelie Weste of Tampa Fla.; one brother and sister-in-law Chuck and Bonita Wesley; one sister Bobbie Wesley of Bainbridge; one brother-in-law Benney Ray and Diane Cunningham of Alabaster, Ala.
He also left behind 12 grandchildren: Ashlyn Brock, Andrew Brock, Emmalee Porter, Alec Porter, Evan Porter, Audrey Porter, Ethan Porter, Olivia Porter, Ivey Porter and Eli Porter, Kyla Weste and Ezra Weste. 8 Nieces and nephews Micki & Trez Freeman, Cathy Ard Kearns, Jimmy Ard, Rachel & Levi Dunn, Emily Wesley, all of Bainbridge; Amanda and DJ Taylor of Winter Park, Fla., Elizabeth and Christine Cunningham of Alabaster; one Uncle Chester and Doris Wesley of Lake Seminole and special cousins Jamie and Mike Hammer of Bainbridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Virginia Wesley of Bainbridge; paternal grandparents Clyde and Marie Wesley of Gainesville, Fla.; maternal grandparents Raymond and Annie Leverette of Bainbridge and grandson Wyatt Porter of Atlanta.
After serving in the United States Air Force, John returned to Bainbridge. He worked for many years at Amoco Fabrics. Before retiring he worked for the Decatur County Fish Farm.
There will be a Memorial Service Saturday June 7th at Bainbridge Church of God from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Casual attire is requested.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made at the Port City Bank, Bonita Davies Wesley Benefit of John Wesley to help with the final expenses.
Dignity Memorial Funeral directors are in charge of arrangements.
