James Edward Partee

James Edward Partee, 90, of Highlands, North Carolina, and formerly of Bainbridge,
passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014 in Highlands.
The graveside funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at Oak City Cemetery with Dr. Gerald A. Little officiating.
Mr. Partee was born July 13, 1923 in Decatur, Georgia, the son of Woody Augustus Partee and Edna Chaffin Partee.
He was a graduate of Decatur Boys High School and received his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Georgia.
Mr. Partee served his country during World War II in the Navy as a signalman aboard the U.S.S. Zaurak. He worked for R.L. Rich and Company for 25 years and later relocated his family to Atlanta, where he was general manager for Lamar Ferrell Chevrolet. While in Atlanta, Mr. Partee received the General Motors Southeastern Salesman award for many years. He was the owner of Mountain Shadow Art.
Mr. Partee enjoyed painting, carving, and illustrations of pen and ink.
Mr. Partee was a very active member of the community while living in Bainbridge.
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where her served as a deacon and member of the choir. Mr. Partee was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 503 and served on the District Council.
He was awarded the distinguished Silver Beaver award in 1970 for his service to boyhood in the Suwannee River Area Council. Mr. Partee was also active in the Semilachee and Wallwood Boy Scout Camps near Tallahassee, Florida.
He was president of the Touchdown Club, member of the Bainbridge Garden Club, member of the Bainbridge Saddle Club, and the Bainbridge Rotary Club.
Mr. Partee was a supporter of Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, and the Wild Turkey
Federation. He was also a recruiter for the University of Georgia Athletic
Association.
Survivors include his son, James Edward Partee, Jr. and his wife, Dale, of Kennesaw, Georgia; his daughters, Cecile Partee English of St, Simons Island, Georgia, and Francie Partee Hargrove and her husband, Shannon, of Cashiers, North Carolina; his son-in-law, Billy English of Albany; his grandchildren, Charles Hargrove, Beau Hargrove, MeMe Husley, Whitney Elliott, Mary Elizabeth Dunagan, and Lauren Hernandez; and his great-grandchildren, Chip Husley, John English Husley, Billy Husley, Ben Hulsey, Whitney Anne Elliott, Jeffery Elliott, Joshua Elliott, Gracie Elliott, Savannah Hernandez, and Sophie Day.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Olive Rich Partee, and his
second wife, Mary S. Partee.
