Mary Elizabeth Maples

Mary Elizabeth Maples, 94, went to be with our Heavenly Father May 9, 2014. She was born September 3,1919 to Jason Brinson and Mary Brock Brinson in Decatur County. She is predeceased by her husband of 76 years, Woodrow Maples. Siblings, Eldridge, Abron, and Guster Brinson, and Vertna McClendon predecease her. She is survived by children, Cecil Maples (Susan), Wendell Maples, (Vonnie Sue) and Deloris Alderman (Leroy Glaze) and three generations of grandchildren.
She is also survived by four siblings, Sara Ragan, Claree Lodge, Anita Brinson and Bobby Gene Brinson all of Georgia. Mrs. Maples moved with her family to Florida in I950 settling in the Tampa area. As one of the Greatest Generation, she was proud to help support her family. One of her favorite employers was Standard Cigar Factory. In the early 70s, the family moved to Zephyrhills. She retired from the Pasco County School District. Mrs. Maples lived the last eight years of her life at Heartland Nursing Center, which became her family of care. Our family is grateful to the skilled and dedicated employees who assisted our mother.
Mrs. Maples believed and lived in the Lord Jesus Christ She was a member of the former Westside Baptist Church and a member of the Mystic Chapter of the Eastern Star.
Services are being handled by Allen and Allen Funeral Home of Thomasville. The funeral will beat Hopeful Baptist Church in Hopeful on Thursday May 15. Viewing will be at 10 a.m. with the service at 11 a.m.
