Early voting for May primary starts Monday

Early voting for the May 20 state and local primary will begin Monday, April 28 across the state and in Decatur County.
Starting Monday, the Fairgrounds, Chamber 1 building will be open for early voters on Vada Road from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Friday, May 2. Early voting will then resume the following Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 9 at the same location during the same hours.
On Saturday, May 10 the fairground facility will be open form 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The last days for early voters are May 12-16 where voters can go to the fairgrounds from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
On Election Day, Tuesday, May 20, all precincts in Decatur County will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Voters will have to decide whether to vote on a Democratic or Republican ballot, but can choose this ballot whether or not they have registered for this political party officially. Georgia residents can choose either ballot on Election Day.
This May, local voters will cast votes for local positions such as solicitor general and county commission districts 1,4 and 6. In non-partisan races, voters will see candidates for Decatur County Board of Education districts 2,4 and 6 as well as post 4 for the town of Brinson.
Ballots will vary based on political party and district, but the following are the candidates listed by political party and position sought.
