Lautry Ann Bearden Salter, 69, of Climax, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving children and husband.

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Climax Baptist Church with Pastor Steven Poppell and Rev. Wayne McDonald officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Tommy McNair and Rev. Conrad Salter officiating. Charles Perry, Maurice Wynn, Sam Sirmons, Roger Nix, Conrad Salter, and Tommy McNair will serve as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Josh Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Climax Baptist Church.

Mrs. Salter was born Sept. 15, 1944 in Camilla, Ga., the daughter of Willie Richard Bearden and Annie Lois Darley Bearden. She was a graduate of Climax High School, Class of 1963. Mrs. Salter was a devoted homemaker, member of Climax Baptist Church, and was a member of Woodman of the World.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Joe Salter, of Climax; her children, Joseph T. Salter of Doerun, Ga., Tracy D. Salter and his wife, Buffy, of Leesburg, Ga., Bonita S. Handelman and her husband, Todd, of Albany, Ga., and Melissa S. Apperson and her husband, Greg, of Leesburg; her siblings, Billy Bearden of Ruston, La., Gene Bearden of Panacea, Fla., Reba Davis of Panama City, Fla., Cindy West of Las Vegas, Nev., and Tammy Burns of Las Vegas; her 12 grandchildren; her two great-grandchildren; and her faithful companion, Boo.

She was preceded in death by her sisters, Teresa Bearden Roberts and Betty Bearden Brooks; and her brother, Richard Ray Bearden.
