Lady Cats lose back-to-back

The Bainbridge High School Lady Cats varsity soccer team dropped a pair of contests at Centennial Field, coming up on the short end of a 2-0 score with Providence Christian School from Dothan Alabama and in a 6-1 contest with the Cairo High School Lady Syrupmakers.
Against Providence Christian, a Lady Eagle forward got the visitors a 1-0 lead in minute 19 when she brought in a lofted pass, took a couple of touches and then shot from 16 yards out.
The final goal of the game came in the minute 62 of the second half as a throw in was made into the Bainbridge penalty area and a Lady Eagle forward quickly hit a volley shot from 12 yards away that scored to the right post, giving the visitors a 2-0 victory.
Bainbridge suffered a 6-1 loss to the Region 1-AAAA champion Cairo High School Lady Syrupmakers, led by Lady Syrupmaker forward Annie Ross, a Gardner-Webb University signee, who came up with a three goal hat trick in the contest as the visitors scored three goals in each half.
Cairo quickly led 1-0 as Ross broke free and was challenged by Lady Cat freshman goal keeper Tori Sprenkle, who pressured the senior but was scored on from 10 yards out.
Ross scored again in minute 11 as a failed clearance by the Lady Cats on a corner kick gave her the opportunity to shoot and score again. Cairo’s final goal of the first half came in minute 37 as a deflected shot was quickly put in from two yards out by a Lady Syrupmaker forward.
Bainbridge cut into the lead with a goal in the 50th minute, as Lady Cat junior midfielder Jennifer Becerra scored on a penalty kick as a result of senior midfielder Paige Braswell being fouled in the penalty area.
Unfortunately for the Lady Cats, Cairo pulled away in the contest and responded by scoring goals three more goals in route to the 6-1 victory.
