The Decatur County Board of Commissioners voted Tuesday to make next Friday, April 18, the deadline for Emergency Medical Service proposals from private companies.
Two weeks ago, the board voted to begin sending requests for proposals to EMS companies, including MidGeorgia and Goldstar.
The board decided a team comprised of members from both Decatur and Seminole counties would be appointed to select the best proposal. Board members are to include an EMS worker from both counties, a commissioner from both counties and the Decatur and Seminole counties’ administrators.
The board did not decide on a deadline to decide an EMS proposal, but several commissioners made clear they wanted it ready soon.
“As far as a timetable, we’re going to have that thing ready to vote on as fast and expeditiously as possible,” Decatur County Chairman Frank Loeffler said.
The Decatur County Board of Commissioners voted to peruse the option of EMS privatization as opposed to having Georgia EMS evaluate and provide solutions for the current state of Decatur County’s system.
