Mrs. Christine Elizabeth Josey, age 89, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2014.
Services for Mrs. Josey were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014, in the chapel of Cox Funeral Home, with Mr. Bobby Grubbs and the Rev. David Grubbs officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Brian Key, Steve Key, Ray Josey, Jr., William King, Don Green, Dewayne Green, Aaron Parrish, Waylon Parish, and Dewayne Parish served as pallbearers
Christine Elizabeth Earnest was born in Seminole County, Ga. She married Lawrence Edward Josey, who preceded her in death. Mrs. Josey was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She worked hard as a mother and homemaker. Christine retired after many years working at I.T.T. Thompson Industries. She loved to go fishing and camping. She enjoyed yard sales and the “Swap Shop”. Music was a large part of her life. Mrs. Josey played the guitar and piano, and loved gospel music. Christine, and her husband, passed on the gift and love of music to their children.
Mrs. Josey loved her birds and chickens. She raised cockatiels. Christine loved gathering her family and she will be dearly missed by the family she loved so much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence E. Josey; granddaughter, Leslie Ezell Brock; parents, Ora and Romelle Earnest; and sisters, Sarah Howard and Iola Vickers.
Christine Josey is survived by her children, Virginia Brogdon, Linda Key and husband, Gene, Callie King, Gail Ezell and husband, Lewis, Sheila Scott and husband, Danny, Jeanna West and husband, Mark, and Ray Josey and wife, Linda; sister, Carolyn Smith; 24 grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Gilead Cemetery Fund, 2932 Spring Creek Road, Brinson, Georgia 39825.
