What a fantastic season it has been

The Bainbridge basketball season has come to an abrupt halt. The Bearcats were chugging along on at an awesome pace in the playoffs, knocking off Bradwell Institute 87-74 at home and conquering Mundy’s Mill in an 85-76 overtime thriller.
Thursday, however, saw the Bearcats meet their match. Warner Robins had their gym packed to capacity. It’s a lot older and a lot smaller than Bainbridge High School’s gym, which means sound bounces off the walls like heat in a microwave.
It was a loud and hostile environment for the Bainbridge Bearcats, and they couldn’t make it out with a win. They lost 69-48.
But that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been a heck of a season.
It has been such a pleasure covering both the Lady Cats and Bearcats for the past few months. Coaches Rickey McCullough and Kelvin Cochran are inspiring, helpful figures who know the game backward and forward. Talking and learning from them this season has been a wonderful experience.
And who can forget the players? Senior Tavares Bowens and Stephen Johnson have built their reputations as Bearcat greats, and they will always be remembered.
Sophomore sensations Tyree Crump, Trevon Shaw and Devontae Jones all have incredible things to look forward to. There’s a lot of talented athletes coming up, and I can’t wait to see what they do.
