Funeral services for Mr. C.W. Sims, 88, of Bainbridge, will be held Saturday, Feb. 22, 2014 at 1 p.m. at St. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, Calvary, Ga. with Rev. C.J. Henry presiding. Interment will be in Crestview Cemetery, Cairo, Ga. with Henry Brown Jr., Alvin Brown Jr., Hildred J. Perkins, Gary Perkins, Michael Brown and Deirico Perkins acting as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of St. Calvary Baptist Church.
Mr. Sims was born April 25, 1925 in Whigham, Ga. to Charlie M. Sims and Andrew Harris Sr.
He was a truck driver, a member of St. Calvary M.B. Church and attended Grady County public school.
Survivors include daughters, Ammorette (Henry) Brown of Jacksonville, Fla., Betty (Ricky) Dukes of Sanford, Fla., Deloris (Michael) Anderson of Warren, Ohio, Evelyn Perkins of Bainbridge, Doris Perkins of Bainbridge, Sandra (George) Toomes of Tallahassee, Fla., Hurk (Charles) Johnson of Attapulgus; sons Jim (Jessiea) Perkins of Bainbridge, Gary (Dorothy) Perkins of Bainbridge, Elroy (Evelyn) Perkins of Havana, Fla., Leroy (Elaine) Perkins of Dothan, Ala.; sisters, Jacqueline (Robert) Hill of Cairo, Zena Hardwick of Albany, Willie M. Dillard of Albany, Aubrey Shannon, of Miami, Fla.; brothers Albert (Mary) Lee of Fort Pierce, Fla., Andrew (Christine) Harris of Albany, Benjamin (Barbara) Harris of Warner Robins, Ga., Uncle Manor Sims of Detroit, Mich., Aunt Eva Thomas of Newark, N.J., a friend Annie P. Jones of Bainbridge, 22 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Sims was married to Carrie Sims, and later married Mary Lee Perkins Smith.
Cloud Funeral Home of Cairo is in charge of arrangements.
