Softball Lady Cat signs to Thomas University

Bainbridge High School Lady Cat center fielder Anna Barber signed a softball scholarship Friday with the Thomas University Lady Nighthawks.
Looking on as she signed in the school gymnasium’s hospitality room were her parents Lisa and Mike Barber, her brother Nick Barber, Lady Cats head coach Amy Thomas, Lady Cats assistant coach Dennis Cato, former Lady Cats head coach Eugene Singletary, Thomas University junior varsity coach Jessica Sanders, Bainbridge High School athletic director Stan Killough, her travel ball coach with the Panhandle Heat 18-year-old and under travel ball team Fred Lampherehe and her travel ball coach Chad Bennett.
Barber, a second team All-Region 1-AAAAA selection, batted 353 with a home run. She was a scholar athlete with a 93.358 GPA.
Coach Thomas said she appreciated Barber’s strong play with the Lady Cats and she is looking forward to hearing about the good things she does at Thomas University.
“Anna is a strong, high character young lady who was strong on the field and in the classroom,” coach Thomas said.
Coach Sanders said she and Thomas University head coach Bill Wilson are sure she will be a strong player with the Nighthawks.
“We are excited about Anna coming to Thomas University,” coach Sanders said. “She will be an asset to our softball program.”
Coach Cato said Barber was a strong player at the plate and a pleasure to coach.
