Eliza A. Alred, 97, of Bainbridge, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Memorial Manor Nursing Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.Brian Hachett officiating and will conclude in the chapel. Interment will be at Oak City Cemetery with The Loyal Solider Sunday School Class as honorary pallbearers.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. Alred was born September 30, 1916 in Tyler, Ala., the daughter of James Hattower Judy and Lottie Mae Cook Judy and made her home in Bainbridge for the past 62 years.
She retired after 30 years as the co-owner of Braggs Dry Goods with her sister. She later worked in her brother-in-law’s bakery, The City Bakery. Mrs. Alred was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Tommy Argo and Edgar Alred; her daughter, Bobbie Brady and her husband, Dr. Eugene Brady; and her sisters, Carrie Bragg and Roberta Chappell.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Argo Keaton and her husband, Roger, of Bainbridge; her grandsons, Mike Brady of Athens, and Eddie Brady of Athens; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Ivey Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
