The Bearcats had their best meet this season at the Seminole Invitational. Kneeling, left to right: Ashton Cato and Latavious Baker. Standing: Coach Chad Smith, Grayson Heard, Tramaine McCray, Ryan Adams and Ben Cox.

The Bearcat wrestling team travelled to the Seminole Invitational at Tallahassee last Saturday.
Bainbridge brought home fourth place overall at the meet, competing against Fort Walton Beach, Suwannee, Florida High School, Leon, Godby and Rickards.
“The team really came together this weekend,” coach Chad Smith said. “They wrestled very smart and many made the biggest strides of the year.”
We were missing one of our best weight classes due to weight issues. If we had that class, we could have easily taken first place in the tournament.”
Ashton Cato was the standout wrestler for the Bearcats, snagging first place in the 145 weight class.
“Cato wrestled the best I have seen him wrestle in the seven years I have been coaching him,” Smith said. “He beat a returning state placer who is very skilled from Suwannee High School.”
Senior Tramaine McCray brought home first place in the 195 weight class, and freshman Ryan Adams took a first place medal as well for the 220 weight class.
Adams filled the position for regular 220 weight division wrestler Charlie Emanuel and was able to compete strongly, finishing first “with ease,” Smith said.
“He has the most upside of any wrestler on the team,” Smith added.
