Lady Cats suffer disappointing loss to Lady Trojans

The Lee County High School Lady Trojans downed the home standing Bainbridge High School Lady High School Lady Cats in a Region 1AAAAA basketball game Thursday.
The loss left the Lady Cats with a 6-9 overall record and a 1-2 Region 1AAAAA mark. They took on the Hardaway High School Lady Golden Hawks in a Region 1AAAAA game Saturday in Columbus. On Tuesday at 6 p.m., they will host the Thomas County Central High School Lady Yellow Jackets.
They Lady Trojans out to an early 5-0, The Lady Cats Cut the advantage to 5-2 with a layup by Patra Parris. After the Lady Trojans hit two more baskets to go up 9-2, Alexandria Carter hit consecutive three point jumpers to cut it to 9-8 at the end of the quarter.
Carter’s jumper from the left side late in the second quarter enabled the Lady Cats to go to halftime down by four 17-23. They were down by six, 23-17after three quarters.
They Lady Trojans outscored the Lady Cats 5-0 in the third quarter to increase their lead to 28-17.
In the fourth quarter the Lady Cats scored 12 points and held the Lady Trojans to 11.  Carter led the Lady Cats in scoring with 13 points. Parris added 4,
After the game Lady Cats coach Kelvin Cochran said his team got frustrated when they started missing shots.
When we missed shots we got frustrated and that led to turnovers,” he said. “You can’t get frustrated, you have just got to keep playing hard and things will eventually turn around.”
Tameria Levens whose energy our team usually feeds off was unable to play tonight and she will also be out for the Hardaway Game. She got into a little tussle with a Miller County player later in Tuesday’s game and both players were suspended for two games.
“Levens always plays hard and the other players follow hr leadership. We can’t look back. We have to look forward to the rest of our Region 1AAAAA schedule.”
Following Tuesday’s game with Thomas County Central, the Lady Cats will host the Harris County Central High School Lady Tigers in a Region 1AAAAA game on Friday at 6 p.m. Next Saturday they will host the Cairo High School Syrupmaids in a non Region 1AAAAA game at 6 p.m.
